THE FASTEST ELECTRIC CAR IN THE WORLD
It's called the EP9 and is the first car to be launched under NextEV's new "NIO" brand. That's actually the fastest electric vehicle, with four motors and four gearboxes capable of beating the Nürburgring in a staggering 7 minutes and 5 seconds.
Motor?
This car develops a equivalent to 1341bhp, enough to propel the EP9 from 0-62mph in 2.7sec, 0-124mph in 7.1sec and on to a top speed of 194mph (quoted as ‘gear-limited’ – there’s only so fast you can spin an electric motor). Perhaps most impressive of all, 0-186mph is claimed to take just 15.9 seconds.
NIO designed a three-position active rear wing system and full-length floor diffuser which, in conjunction with the front adjustable splitter and fixed aero features allow the car to achieve twice the downforce of a current Formula One car.
This "beast" weighs 1735KG, with 635KG devoted to batteries alone. Those power packs are interchangeable too, with a fresh set lasting 427 kilometers (265 miles).
Due to its high performance envelope, the EP9 required a new and bespoke design of brakes. The braking system was engineered in partnership with Alcon utilizing Surface Transforms carbon ceramic discs. It achieves twice the brake torque capability of a GT3 car.
Costing $1.2 million each to build, NextEV hasn't put a retail price on the car, but that doesn't really matter: Only six models are going to be made and they're all earmarked for the company's investors. The car is really designed to drum up some excitement for NextEV as a company, ahead of the launch of a more consumer-focused electric car next year.
Have a look at the Interior, or cockpit should be said...
Basically it's a spaceship cockpit with two seats and displays everywhere...
